Originally this blog was going to be a critique on Calvinism as a whole (I know, I'm obsessed.) But upon further examination I've decided to hit the one point that I detest the most.
Unconditional Election:
The belief that God only chose certain people to be saved and the rest to perish. This choice was not made on the moral fiber of the individuals in question but rather to prove the ultimate power and sovereignty of the Lord.
My argument today will be of how this nulls God's true essence of Love. A God of Love would not wish that any of his creations perish, but that all be saved.
The easiest and most recited verse attesting to this would be John 3:16 "For God so Loved the World that he gave his only son, that none should perish but have everlasting life."
Other verses found in John where Christ talks of God's Love are 14:21 "Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be Loved by my Father, I too will love him and show myself to him."
And 14:23 "If any loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him."
See also:
Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own Love for us in this; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
It is possible for one to even say that God is Love and in his infinite perfection and wisdom he Loves us all and wishes that all may know him and be saved.
For if we remove Love from the equation God is only seen as a ruthless merciless God, corrupted by his own perfection.
To sacrifice his own creations to show his Glory?
Why not rather to save all his creations to show his Glory?
Let's remove God from our own confinements and see him as an all knowing all powerful being who only wished for us to love him in return willingly.
For his love is so deep, so magnanimous, that it touches everything completely and wishes nothing to perish into eternal damnation.
Don't you think that that would hurt him?
Christ spent three days in Hell so that they too would have the chance we had. Where does Unconditional Election fit into all of this?
And if you insist that those verses only spoke to the elected, if you insist to control God to your standards and refuse to see his True Glory than I feel sorry for you.
Because it is for the Glory of God that we willingly choose him.
Doesn't that further show God's power than anything else? That a sinful creature, knowing nothing but depravity can look and see the light and want it more? That it can willingly crawl into the sun and be changed?

The shine of which has caught my eyes.
Our physical appearance gives away most of our personality right at the start, and although there are a few teenagers out there (and sadly some adults) who say that the outer projection has nothing to do with the inner character its been proven true through out the years.
So first lets examine the curvature of the spine, the slouched posture, and the small pot belly protruding from a rather slim figure.
The spine is most possibly curved due to excessive time spent at the computer screen, or at a desk, hunched over- giving something undivided attention.
The posture is either aftermath of such behavior and can not be helped, or it is just lack in conviction.
The unseemly weight gain was probably sudden as it hasn't yet quite settled into the figure. (Possibly showing a downward spiral into slight depression or self loathing.)
Upon further inspection one sees the deep set eyes, dull and lacking color. Lacking life. Purple sleepless bruises stain the skin there seeping into the rest of the pale skin.
Skin sickly yellow, like wallpaper.
Its a sad character I'm afraid to say. hopeless in its efforts, fruitless, and there for prone to giving up. Has already given up.
A deep wound of misunderstanding, complicated with vast intelligence and the terrible question, "Why?"
Their writings cover the loathing not only for themselves, but for another, praising that other in such a way- you can't help but notice the sarcasm, even if it wasn't intentional.
The words leave a bitter taste, and the examiner knows all too well the root of the problem.

There is therefore now no condemnation
to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh,
but after the Spirit
-Romans 8:1,2

Lame.
So, I read this blog today that told me why I didn't like Calvinism. It formed my opinion for me and then started to argue with me.
To clarify, I don't like Calvinism because it is utter trash. Yes, trash. Garbage. A complete and total waste of Theological discussion.
Unlike the blog, which told me, that I don't like Calvinism because it takes away my control.
Have you ever seen me in control? Its a mess, things go missing, babies cry, countries dissolve into small factions launching yams at one another.
Someone else needs to be in control.
Furthermore, my intense dislike of Calvinism stems from one point and sort of branches out to the rest of the religion.
And what's that point?
God picks who ever is going to heaven long before they're put on this earth and we have no say in the matter.
So really... let's just throw the entire Bible out the window, but it doesn't matter-- only the Calvinists are getting in anyways.
Lets forget that Jesus told the disciples to go out into all the land and preach the good news... because its already been built into those blessed Calvinists.
I dislike Calvinism because its a private club. Its an elitist's dream come true. Here's a religion that only a certain few can be a part of! Awesome! And I'm so savvy and smart that of course I'm going to be a part of it.
Get over yourselves.
If you want to talk about anyone destroying witnesses and what not, its you.
I am thoroughly disgusted be the entire idea.
Its selfish and its wrong.
If you do really want to see God's work than you yourself have to get to work and watch it happen.
Want to know why you can't see anyone saved? Because you yourself are bathing in your own filth and can't even see it.
Calvinism is pathetic and is for those of us who are too afraid to try.
I wash my hands of you.
